Creamy Tahini Veggie Tofu Dogs

Tahini Sauce:
1/4 cup (60 mL) tahini paste
1/4 cup (60 mL) olive oil
1 tsp (5 mL) grated lemon zest
1/4 cup (60 mL) lemon juice
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp (5 mL) ground cumin
1/2 tsp (2 mL) each salt and pepper 

Veggie Tofu Dogs:
1 pkg (275 g) Yves Veggie Cuisine® Veggie Tofu Dogs (6 Veggie Tofu dogs)
6 hot dog buns, toasted
1 1/2 cups (375 mL) shredded cabbage
3/4 cup (175 mL) finely chopped tomatoes
3/4 cup (175 mL) finely chopped cucumbers
1/2 cup (125 mL) finely chopped red onion
2 tbsp (30 mL) finely chopped fresh parsley

  1. Tahini Sauce: Whisk together tahini paste, oil, lemon zest and lemon juice. Stir in garlic, cumin, salt and pepper.
  2. Veggie Tofu Dogs: Heat grill to medium heat; grease grate well. Grill Veggie Tofu Dogs for 5 to 7 minutes or until marked and heated through. Serve in buns with cabbage, tomatoes, cucumbers and red onion. Drizzle with Tahini Sauce and sprinkle with parsley.


For a spicy addition, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the tahini sauce or add a drizzle of your favourite hot sauce.
Use green or red cabbage, or substitute shredded romaine lettuce or kale if desired.
